Perfmon data is missing objects: LogicalDisk

Postby BryanS » Tue Sep 18, 2012 2:59 pm

Hi, I'm getting the following error on a couple (but not all) of my nodes on a cluster I'm monitoring.

"Perfmon data is missing objects: LogicalDisk. Possible causes include performance counter library corruption, or a 32-bit/64-bit mismatch between Windows and the performance counter provider (e.g. SQL Server)."

It's not a mismatch problem. I'm running 64-bit on 64-bit.

When I ran perfmon I did find that LogicalDisk was missing. So I looked into that and found this link: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/granth/archive/ ... stics.aspx

I did what it says to do and now LogicalDisk shows for me in Perfmon. But I still get the same error in SQL Monitor. What else do I need to look for?

Your perfmon counter library maybe corrupt. You may need to rebuild you perfmon counter library.

Would you think it's corrupt even if it is working within Perfmon itself? As in graphs, goes up and down, etc?

I am having the same issue with a new sql server 2014 instance, 64 bit OS and 64 Bit software. However I have checked my perfmon counters for LogicalDisk and can see them so I'm not sure why sql monitor is throwing the bad data error. I'm running the latest SQL Monitor 4.2.0.243. Please assist.
