Convert archive MTF to SQB

Postby ch13jvl » Tue Jul 24, 2007 1:09 pm

We recently began using SQL Backup and I would like to convert our archive .MTF files to .SQB to take advantage of the the compression and encryption. I have not been able to find a method equivilent to the SQL Backup to MTF Converter. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Hi ch13jvl,

Unfortunately, at the present time there is no way to convert from native .MTF files into SQL Backup's .SQB files.

The only suggestion I can make is to utilise a program such a Winzip ( ) or 7-Zip ( ), which can compress and encrypt your existing MTF files, but compression and encryption performance may not be as good as with SQL Backup, and it would require additional steps (i.e. uncompressing the archive) when restoring.

I'll add your request to the feature suggestion list for the next version of SQL Backup, and it may be included in a future release of the product.

Hope that helps,

Converting SQLBackup 5 (.sqb) file format to 6 or higher

Is there a way to convert SQLBackup 5 (.SQB) file format to SQLBackup 6 or higher file format.

I would like to use the SQLVirtual Restore to mount the .sqb files that were backed up in SQLBackup 5.4.

Sorry, that conversion isn't possible.
