Postby CorrinHarris » Wed Oct 31, 2012 2:03 pm

Hi - I may just need help with my syntax - when using MIRROR/VERIFY/PASSWORD combination - I get an 'invalid password' error...below is a list of tests which all work except the last one - any ideas? Thanks all!

Do you know what this error refers to? Something in your 'up_take_backup_redgate' procedure?

Its a SQLBackup message (not a sql one) - The following are the full details of what the backup process returns in its result set...

Invalid format specification: '%
Processed 232 pages for database 'TESTDATABASE', file 'TESTDATABASE' on file 1.
Processed 1 pages for database 'TESTDATABASE', file 'TESTDATABASE_log' on file 1.
BACKUP DATABASE successfully processed 233 pages in 0.028 seconds (64.871 MB/sec).
Verifying files:
\\\\TESTSERVER\\BACKUP FOLDER\\TESTDATABASE\\TESTDATABASE_20121031_12_18_FULL.SQB
Error 710: Wrong password entered.
Validation of all backup files failed.
SQL Backup exit code: 710'.

SQL Backup generates a log file for each process that it runs. The default folder where the logs are stored is C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\Red Gate\\SQL Backup\\Log\\<instance name> on Windows 2003 and older, and C:\\ProgramData\\Red Gate\\SQL Backup\\Log\\<instance name> on Windows Vista and newer.

Could you please post the contents of the log file for the backup that raised the error?

Thanks.

I have rerun to recreate the issue...it only fails when the combination of MIRROR/PASSWORD/VERIFY is used.

The issue you are encountering was a bug in version 6.1, and was fixed in 6.3. However, I would suggest upgrading to version 6.5, as it contains fixes for other issues for the version 6 release.

If you have an active maintenance contract, you could upgrade to version 7 instead.

Thanks Petey...

We are just in the process of upgrading to 6.5.1.9 and looking at upgrading to 7.2 in the future...
