Cant use SSMS 2012 after updating from 10.1 to 10.2

Postby osumatt » Tue May 22, 2012 4:53 am

I updated both SQL Compare & SQL Data Compare from 10.1 to 10.2.

I only have SQL 2012 installed on my machine and I am using SSMS 2012.

I connect to any server and as soon as I click on the server node in SSMS, it crashes. The only copy on my machine is version 9.5.0.547, located at C:\\ProgramData\\Red Gate\\SIPFw

Please help soon, I can't use SSMS at all!

Getting "Unhandled exception has occured.." message

Postby NeM » Tue May 22, 2012 7:31 pm

I see this same issue too with the exact same error message as above. It is incredibly annoying to get this popup message inside SSMS 2008. At first, I thought this was an issue with SQL Data Compare 10 which was where I posted this issue first on that forum. Now I think this is an issue with SQL Compare 10.2.0.696. Here are my client specs:

Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 10.0.5500.0
Microsoft Analysis Services Client Tools 10.0.5500.0
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 6.1.7601.17514
Microsoft MSXML 3.0 4.0 5.0 6.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.50727.5456
Operating System 6.1.7601 (Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1)

Yep, sounds like a bug

Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 6.1.7601.17514
Microsoft MSXML 3.0 4.0 6.0
Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0.30319.269

and let me know if it fixes this problem for you?

Thanks,
