IIS unmanaged memory usage (1.18 G)

Postby ali.niche » Fri May 04, 2012 2:05 am

The ANTS memory profiler shows a huge amount of memory usage on production server during one of the methods in our website (around 1.18 G). The usage is in Private bytes and in unmanaged area of it. The problem is when I use the profiler on my local development machine the amount of memory usage is around 256 M in that area.

Production server: 64 Windows 2008 r2 , IIS 7.5, .net framework 2
development server: 32 Windows 7 , IIS 7.5, .net framework 2

Any help would be appreciated

Private bytes includes the Framework and unmanaged bits of the applicaiton. ANTS Memory Profiler only shows the size of the managed heap. 99% of the time, if there is a problem with your code, there will be some evidence of a memory leak showing in the memory profiler results. The COM and Win32 code is usually something out of your control.
