How to search across Thread

Postby ngajjar » Thu Aug 11, 2011 10:21 am

Hi

I see that ANTS is able to perform a search withing currently selected thread only. How to perform a search across threads?

Thanks

Ensure you have selected "All threads" in the drop down menu.

I expected it to work that way but it doesn't. More over the ANTS doesn't display any message about success or failure of the search, which annoying

Yes- I agree about the lack of any failure message.

Are you searching in the "method grid" view ( as opposed to the "call-graph" view? Have you ensured you have deselected all the filtering options (such as the "Hide Insignificant methods" checkbox ))- only then are you searching on all the data.

ANTS filters out lots of information to try to clarify where the hotspots are but this has the effect of rendering search less useful.
