Viewing process source code

Postby rnbguru » Mon Apr 25, 2011 6:30 pm

Using the performance profiler, I am trying to view the source code for some of the classes in my project. However, whenever I click on classes, I receive the message "To show source code here, click on a method for which source code is available." However, no methods have source code.

I am running the project by attaching to a running service. Is there anyway to load the source code, or to direct the profiler to where it can find the source code?

Unfortunately there is no way to control the libraries that locate source code as they are shipped by Microsoft in diasymreader.dll. The basic rules are, make sure the .pdb files exist and match the assemblies being profiled (same build/version numbers). Typically the .pdbs are found in the same folder as the assembly being profiled.
