Creating multiple vdbs off one backup

Postby sqlsteve » Wed May 18, 2011 11:16 am

I created a virtual db from a 230gb backup, across the network, that took over 5 hours.

Is there a way to create one vdb and then duplicate it several times without having to take 5 hours each?

Hi sqlsteve,

If you have read my reply to my other post I think you can guess the answer to this one. Here it is below;

Unfortunately that isn't possible, both SQL Server and the HyperBac Service need to have the data from the backup file passed through them for the SQL Virtual Restore database to work.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
