If there is a new version of SQL Doc in the works, I'd like to request a feature similar to that by another product out there called SQLSpec. It has a few features SQL Doc doesn't. Notable among them is a diagramming function that visually displays dependencies for the object you're looking at. This corresponds to the "uses" and "used by" features in SQL Doc, but is visually oriented making the distinction between different object types more readily apparent. It also gives diagrams at the root level depicting overall sizes of objects (tables, indexes) which is nice from an administrative point of view.

I would agree that diagrams are much quicker for refreshing yourself with a schema and understand what connections there are beyond the 'first hop'.

It sounds like you're looking for Dependency Tracker
. We've considered adding some diagramming functionality to Doc for a future release, but that's far off in the future if it ever does happen.
