SQL Backup Service Keeps Hanging

Postby stevejmartin » Fri Dec 21, 2007 10:25 am

We've just purchased SQL backup and are using it on seven 64 bit Windows 2003 servers.

SQL Backup works perfectly on six of the servers but on the other one (our data warehouse server) the service keeps stopping at random intervals.

I've set the service recovery options to restart the service but this doesn't always work. The service is set to use the local system account as are the six servers that are working correctly.

Is there anything I can do to ensure the service runs continuously?

Kind regards,
Steve

In the SQL Backup installation folder, are there any text files (.txt extension) generated?

In the SQL Backup log folder (default is <system drive>:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\Red Gate\\SQL Backup\\Log\\<instance name>), could you please look for the last log file before the service stopped? Were there any errors recorded?

Thanks.

There is a SQBCoreService_bugreport.txt file in the installation folder.

The log files have no references of any errors

Could you please send the SQBCoreService_bugreport.txt file to me? Thanks.

Could you please replace the SQL Backup service executable file (SQBCoreService.exe) with the one from here? Stop the service named SQL Backup Agent, replace the file, then start the servce. Does it now work?

SQL Backup stopping

Postby mherfkens » Thu May 27, 2010 8:17 pm

SQL Backup is just stopping without error. The service will still be running but the backup process stops and jobs fail. In a previous post you placed a link to a new SQL Backup executable. But the link is no longer valid. Where can I get the updated executable? I am running version 6.
